The Indian Navy has successfully carried out multiple anti-ship missile firings, showcasing its operational readiness and long-range precision strike capabilities. The exercise, conducted in the Arabian Sea, aimed to validate the Navy’s platforms, systems, and crew in preparation for future combat operations.

A spokesperson for the Indian Navy confirmed the success of the missile firings, emphasizing the exercise’s role in reaffirming the Navy’s readiness to safeguard India’s maritime interests. The statement posted on the social media platform X read, “Indian Navy Ships undertook successful multiple anti-ship firings to revalidate and demonstrate readiness of platforms, systems and crew for long-range precision offensive strike. Indian Navy stands Combat Ready, Credible and Future Ready in safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests Anytime Anywhere Anyhow.”

The demonstration of the Navy’s capabilities comes amid heightened tensions following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives. This event has further escalated the situation between India and Pakistan, making the demonstration of military preparedness even more significant.

Earlier, the Navy’s warship INS Surat also conducted a successful test firing of the Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MR-SAM), strengthening India’s air defense capabilities. This test took place ahead of a scheduled missile test by Pakistan’s Navy in the same region, further emphasizing the importance of India’s defense posture.

INS Surat, a state-of-the-art indigenous guided missile destroyer, is a key asset in India’s defense strategy. As the fourth and final ship of the P15B Guided Missile Destroyer Project, it boasts 75% indigenous content and features advanced weapon-sensor packages and network-centric capabilities. The successful operations underline the Navy’s growing self-reliance in defense manufacturing and its commitment to enhancing national security.
